It consists of a six nos. Non-Fan tap gird resistors and two nos of Fan tap grid resistor mounted on the locomotive in two section. Both sections having 4 grid resistors (3 Non-Fan Tap & 01 Fan-Tap). The frame of Resistor Grid is six made of HRC steel and powder coated with a epoxy suede grey colour. The grid ribbon is the current carrying element of the grid resistor assembly. The resistor ribbon dissipates electrical energy in the form of heat. The insulators electrically isolate the grid ribbon from the frame which is grounded and mechanically support the grid ribbon and terminals. The material for the insulator plate is of Thermoset Moulding Compound having good insulation resistance and good dielectric strength.
